Early Wednesday morning, singer Demi Lovato came out as non-binary in a heartfelt Instagram post and officially changed their pronouns to they/them. With the release of their new podcast 4D with Demi Lovato, they said they intend to use their platform to educate the public on gender fluidity.

“This has come after a lot of healing and self-reflective work,” Lovato wrote in their Instagram caption. “I’m still learning and coming into myself, and I don’t claim to be an expert or a spokesperson. Sharing this with you now opens another level of vulnerability for me. I’m doing this for those out there that haven’t been able to share who they truly are with their loved ones. Please keep living in your truths and know I am sending so much love your way.”

After posting their announcement, Lovato updated their pronouns using Instagram’s new pronoun feature and the first episode of 4D with Demi Lovato. On the first installment of the podcast, Lovato invited author and performer Alok Vaid-Menon to discuss their experiences living within the non-binary community. The duo explored what it meant to them to have their correct pronouns used and how they express their own individuality and gender.

"I feel that this best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression and allows me to feel most authentic and true to the person I both know I am and still am discovering," Lovato said in their post.

The full episode of 4D With Demi Lovato featuring Akon Vaid-Menon is available now on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. See the post below for instructions on how to listen.
