International music sensation BTS is set to perform on MTV’s award winning franchise, “Unplugged” on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 9 p.m. EST. Their special edition — “MTV Unplugged Presents: BTS” — consists of unique versions of some of their most influential and career-defining hits.
BTS fans — a.k.a ARMY’s — will be able to experience an intimate setting with all seven members and enjoy exclusive, one-of-a-kind variations of songs from their most recent album “BE (Essential Edition).” BTS’s November released Deluxe Edition hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and includes No.1 hit singles “Dynamite” and “Life Goes On.”
“MTV Unplugged” hasn’t aired a special since Miley Cyrus performed her Backyard Sessions in support of her No. 1 rock album, “Plastic Hearts” back in Oct. 2020.

Known for their comforting lyrics that aim to help their fans through difficult times, “BE (Essential Edition)” was inspired by the current pandemic with a desire to relieve some stress off those who listen to their music. Like most of their performances, BTS encompasses their genuine selves while also providing us with incredible vocals and heart-wrenching tunes.
“Even though we're far away now, our hearts are still the same. Even if you're not by my side, even if I'm not by your side, you know we're together.”
— BTS, “Telepathy”
Many songs from their most recent album express both newfound struggles that the pandemic has brought on and a longing for new happiness and freedom that the future brings. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, BTS was in the middle of a world tour and most of their concerts were canceled. Knowing how much these performances mean to ARMY’s around the world, BTS has also felt the weight of their longing to see their fans.
BTS encourages their fans to wait for them and continue living happy and healthy lifestyles. From Seoul, South Korea, BTS uses their “MTV Unplugged” stage to offer cheerful performances that remind fans and people across the world that while they may be oceans away, music can heal and connect us all.
“MTV Unplugged Presents: BTS” airs on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 9 p.m. EST on MTV.
